Sometimes, I get in the mood for a quick DIY and after painting my entrance a moody Black, I felt the need to add some thing fun to the TV wall.
My Ideas are always bigger than my budget but I managed to get some of it on the wall at least. With a short attention span and limited funds, I am forced to do things in phases so that I don’t loose interest and leave things unfinished.
This is Phase 1.

The project began with white walls, a tv and 2 windows that take up a good amount of the wall.
I browsed the old faithful IKEA for ideas and inspiration and left with some Besta Cabinet frames and wall mounting fixtures.

I love how versatile this Besta system is. I mounted it to the wall with intention of leaving the cabinet fronts open for display but as soon as I loaded it up with dishes, I knew that myself and my ADHD needed doors.
Next I built a Billy bookcase to stand in the corner, also for visual effect but realizing how heavy it was going to be, I needed to create something for additional support. It’s always fun to get out the power tools and quick chop chop, created a 4″x4″ wood leg to add to the outer area and it worked.

Since I’d used the Besta system before in a bedroom, I sneakily borrowed the doors, thinking I could save a buck but also to see if I like them in white on this project.

With the white walls and blinds open, they just vanished into whiteness and so I went back to IKEA and picked up some wooden doors that look more suited to my industrial style anyway.

Don’t you agree?
At this point I had blown my budget and so I hit the brakes on the wood wall and any thing else costly.
I did grab some accent lights and a floating shelf to act as a kind of mantle and I added some conduit pipe as brackets to make do for now. The plan will be to make this all look a bit more rugged in the future.
I hope you enjoyed following along with me on this simple DIY.
Feel free to ask any questions.
